For those who own a Ford, there are a number of advantages to seeing a mechanic from the Ford Repair shop than a mechanic from a smaller, independently-owned garage. Your car is one of the most expensive investments. You also depend on it to get you around daily.
First, if the warranty on your Ford vehicle has not yet expired, you may be ableto have it serviced at Ford Repair for free. If you have car trouble within your warranty, whether it be three years, 100,000 miles, or 90 days, on a new or used car, you can take it in for most problem, and have it worked on without charge. With an extended warranty, you can have any issue with your vehicle fixed, or any parts replaced.
A more significant reason to take you Ford to a Ford repair service is that only Ford parts will be used on your car, and nothing else. If you go to a more out-of-the-way place, there is no guarantee that the mechanic will have parts for your specific make of car. In a Ford repair shop, the parts are brand new, and not recycled from other parts. There is no way of being sure that this will be the case with a “shade tree” mechanic. You want the best possible parts so that your car is at functionality. If you want to sell your car later, this will always heighten its value.
Third, Ford wants to keep its name untarnished, so you have more of a chance of having quality work done, as their name can be damaged if litigation is brought against them. The smaller guy has less to lose, and though some of them may be talented mechanics, there is more of a chance of quality at a Ford repair service, as well as liability if a mistake is made. One would have a hard time proving that a mishap that happened in a smaller repair shop was the mechanic’s fault. So it is safer in that way to see a dealership repair shop.
Though the costs are higher at a dealership, if you are not under warranty, it is still a safer, better deal to see them then the independent shops.
