While many homeowners see strip lighting as an under the counter lighting option in a kitchen, there is a lot that can be done with this easy to install lighting in your outdoor living space.

It will be important to make sure the LED strip lights are designed for outdoor use. This can be verified by making sure the lighting strip is designated for wet use lighting. Additionally, the packaging and the specifications should indicate the lighting is designed for outdoor applications. It is possible to use outdoor strip lighting inside, but you cannot use indoor lighting on the exterior of your home as it cannot stand up to moisture.

Add Dazzle to Railings

A great place to use LED strip lights is under patio and deck railings. It can also be used on walkway railings or to highlight gates and arches in the fence. Easy to install, just run the strip under the bottom edge of the railing, as close to the middle as possible.

This placement avoids people catching the strip as they run their hands down the railing, particularly on stairs or on gates. With gates, always keep the strip lighting away from hinges and don’t have it placed where it will constantly move as the gate opens and closes.

Highlight Tables

For a great look for an outdoor living space, consider running the LED strip lights under the edge of the outdoor coffee or picnic table. Many people have an outdoor living room style area, and the soft, gentle light brings attention to the space to create a comfortable, warm and inviting look.

This is particularly effective with a glass top table. This provides a bit of light reflected up to create as soft ambiance without any annoying glare or bright lights. It also highlights the look of candles or lanterns, turning an outdoor living space into a softly lit area to relax, enjoy friends and family and spend memorable evenings outdoors.
