Destin Florida has some of the most gorgeous beaches you will ever see, and the tourist life that you crave. While riding a jet ski is exhilarating, and can be done with the entire family, it can be dangerous, just like any other sport on the water. Below you will find some tips on how to ride your jet ski safely, and still have the time of your life.

Riding With Passengers

Riding a Jet Ski in Destin with passengers is seen a lot, and it is really an exciting experience for everyone involved. You need to realize that having two people on the Jet Ski increases the weight load and makes the Jet Ski harder to balance. It is usually recommended that not over 500 pounds be put on one Jet Ski, this includes people and any cargo that you might be carrying. Carrying over the weight limit, can cause the Jet Ski to sink, or capsize, ending your outing in a disaster.

What if You Capsize?

If you capsize, the first thing you need to remember is that your engine compartment and carburetor will probably fill up with water. You need to get the Jet Ski upright again within minutes of capsizing, to keep from ruining the engine. You need to be very careful when turning your Jet Ski back over, making sure that you don’t get tangled up under it, and that there are no passengers in the way. You will want to start it right away, and probably head back to land, to make sure it is going to operate properly after the dunking.

Avoiding a Collision

Using personal water craft takes good common sense, and excellent judgment. While these are machines invented to have a good time on, you have to be vigilant and make sure that you are always on the alert for people, and objects, in the water. You want to make sure that you are always aware of conditions on the water, and never ride your Jet Ski in fog, storms, or any weather that you can’t see where you are going.
